Nextdoor Reveals Lafayette’s Most Affordable Neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO (press release) – Nextdoor Holdings, Inc., a neighborhood network, released its 2026 rankings of Lafayette’s most affordable neighborhoods. According to Nextdoor, its service is used by more than 110 million verified neighbors to connect with those nearby.
Organizers share that as summer marks the busiest time of year for moving, the Nextdoor data highlights Lafayette’s most affordable neighborhoods for buyers and renters looking to make a change. With families preparing for school transitions, this season presents a critical window to find a home that aligns with both budget and lifestyle.
“For most people, buying a home is the single largest financial decision of their lives, and cost is almost always the defining factor in where they can afford to plant roots,” said Kelsey Grady, EVP, communications, at Nextdoor. “What makes Nextdoor uniquely valuable is that we can go beyond the listing price and help people understand the real financial picture of a neighborhood.”
The ranking for Lafayette‘s most affordable neighborhoods is based on a composite of third-party economic data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Tax Foundation and the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and Nextdoor platform signals that reflect how Lafayette residents live and engage with their communities.

Nextdoor Methodology
The Nextdoor Affordability Score classifies and ranks neighborhoods and cities based on third-party data as well as data within the platform. The Affordability Score can be found on individual neighborhood and city pages, as well as location ranking pages, and is accessible both directly on Nextdoor and via external search engines.
The score functions in a manner similar to an index, with one neighborhood in a city always receiving a top score of 100 and other neighborhoods ranked proportionately. Therefore, neighborhoods across different cities should not be compared.
Nextdoor’s Affordability Score is used to identify the most affordable neighborhoods in a city and then rank neighborhoods within that city by this score.
The Affordability Score is a composite index built from external cost and housing indicators at the neighborhood level (e.g., market rents, home values, related cost-of-living data, plus other third-party data and some platform data).
