Whether it’s voting for the best boudin in Acadiana, exploring where to try a viral trend or seeing an influencer rave about the hole in the wall you’ve been going to for years, we all have an opinion on food.

June 1: Rachel’s Cafe Will Expand to Maurice
On June 1, Rachel’s Cafe in Lafayette announced on Facebook that it will open a second location in Maurice at 8218 Maurice Ave. The account’s most recent post reads, “Opening a second location is exciting, but opening one in the town that helped raise us? That hits a little closer to home.”

June 12: Meltdown Snoballs Opens in Lafayette
At only 20 years old, Zee Clayton opened his sixth Louisiana location of Metldown Snoballs, a snowball franchise he started at 16, on June 12. The new spot, located at 1500 Johnston St., serves snowballs, ice cream, milkshakes, nachos, hot dogs and more, while boasting “fresh daily preparation.”
Local influencer D’Audrea Smith posted a review video trying a Meltdown snowball, sharing that the ice was soft and the cheesecake had a great taste.

June 16: Soft Opening for All Day Lafayette
On June 16, All Day Lafayette, a cafe, cocktail and dinner spot, had its soft opening. On June 18, it celebrated a grand opening with food and drink samples, free gifts for the first 50 guests and a chance to win two tickets to a Saints game. With a short closure over the weekend due to air-conditioning issues, All Day is back in service as of Monday, June 22.

June 18: Moore’s in New Iberia Has the Spotlight
Iconic New Orleans foodie Gerald Gruenig, with a combined 1.5 million follower count across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, recently posted a series of videos from his visit to Moore’s, a soul food cafe serving plate lunches at 502 S Hopkins St. in New Iberia. Gruenig shares that Moore’s slogan has become the “best in the state and half of Texas,” and his one of his favorite kitchens in all of South Louisiana.
July 6 marks Moore’s 23rd anniversary. In the videos, Gruenig interviews Chef Al as he prepares the Monday plate lunch special, a meatball stew – the same Monday special since Moore’s beginnings.
Stirring his homemade roux in a pot on the stove, Chef Al said, “We’ve been in business for 23 years, this pot’s been in business for 30.”

June 22: $2.50 Freedom Fries at Olde Tyme Grocery
Today, Olde Tyme Grocery announced its new special, available until July 3, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. The visually patriotic Buffalo Ranch Freedom Fries are just $2.50 while supplies last.
