LAFAYETTE, La  – With less than 10 days until Christmas and just over two weeks until the new year, don’t miss out on your last chances in 2025 to celebrate the holidays in Lafayette.

Lafayette Holiday Events to End the Season

Christmas at the Lafayette Museum

Historic Homes & Gardens is decorated for Christmas with period decorations until Dec. 31.

Price: $5 Adults. $3 Seniors, Military and Students.

When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m, weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Noel Acadian au Village

Acadian Village hosts its 45th annual Christmas festival. The festival takes place at Acadian Village, owned by LARC, and includes decorations covering 10 acres, holiday displays, carnival rides, local cuisine, photos with Santa, a raffle and holiday shopping.

Price: $12 at the gate. $11 online at lafayettelarc.org or acadianvillage.org. $10 advance tickets at Shop Rite locations.

When: 5:30 – 9 p.m., until Dec. 23.

Old Time Winter Traditions

Witness the arts and crafts of life back in the day in Acadiana, from candle making and natural decoration to soap making and writing letters to Papa Noel! Enjoy classic Cajun and Creole cuisine in La Cuisine de Maman, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and shop from local artists and artisans in the gift shop, La Boutique at Vermilionville.

Price: Free admission.

When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., until Dec. 29.

Victorian Christmas at Rip Van Winkle Gardens

Tours of the Joseph Jefferson Home are decorated for the holiday season. Enjoy delicious treats from Café Jefferson 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Price: $8, ages 6 -17. $14, 18+. $12, 65+.

When: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., until Jan. 6.

“The Creole Nutcracker”

“The Creole Nutcracker” returns Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Heymann Performing Arts Center. Presented by Heritage Parc, the performance blends Louisiana culture with the classic story of “The Nutcracker” ballet. Lafayette natives Jazmyn Jones and Leigha Porter started “The Creole Nutcracker” in 2018.

New Year’s Noon Carnival and Countdown

The 29th annual New Year’s Noon Carnival and Countdown at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana welcomes families with:

  • A confetti blast inside and outside to celebrate the countdown to noon
  • Live music
  • Stunts from the Amazing Bacon Stilt Walker
  • Games and activities with prizes up for grabs
  • Free wearable party favors
  • Interactive exhibits, festive crafts and more

A Zoo Year’s Eve

Zoosiana’s Zoo Year’s Eve Countdown for Kids is a mid-day celebration designed for families and filled with zoo adventures, activities, dancing, treats and the Tiger Ball Drop at noon. This event is free with admission or membership. Zoosiana will close after this event.

Activity schedule:

  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. — Animal Mask-Making Station
  • 11:30 – 11:59 a.m. — Jungle Dance PAW-ty
  • 11:59 a.m. — The Zoo-Year Countdown Begins!
