Lafayette Travel Received DMAP Designation

LAFAYETTE, La. (press release) – Lafayette Travel, the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission (LCVC), has re-earned the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal from Destinations International in recognition of its commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standards for performance and accountability of destination organizations around the world.
According to its website, Lafayette Travel was created in 1974 to serve as a tourism promotion and marketing coordinator for all of Lafayette Parish.
The Lafayette Travel vision is to have the most progressive, efficient and creative destination marketing organization in the state of Louisiana as an accredited Destination Marketing Organization.
“We are pleased to recognize LCVC for successfully achieving reaccreditation through the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP),” said President and CEO of Destinations International Don Welsh. “The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations, and I am proud to recognize LCVC as a long-standing member of the DMAP community.”
The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully comply with a set of rigorous mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas to gain this momentous achievement.
The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations, including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research.
Lafayette Travel is one of nearly 200 destination organizations that have obtained DMAP accreditation.
“We are honored to receive reaccreditation through Destinations International’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP),” said Lafayette Travel President & CEO Ben Berthelot. “In 2008, we were the first Destination Marketing Organization in the state of Louisiana to be accredited, and the standards needed have continued to rise since that time. I’m proud of our team for this achievement, which reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence, accountability and industry best practices.”
