Lafayette, La (press release) – This year, “The Creole Nutcracker” returns Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.

“The Creole Nutcracker,” presented by Heritage Parc, blends Louisiana culture with the classic story of “The Nutcracker” ballet. Lafayette natives Jazmyn Jones and Leigha Porter started “The Creole Nutcracker” in 2018.

The performance, which features youth and adults from across Acadiana, follows young Clarice on a journey through the state’s most iconic and historic locations. Additionally, audiences will hear a mix of dance styles, including jazz, zydeco, hip hop and classical ballet.

“The show offers an unforgettable experience, with dynamic choreography and theatrical elements that showcase our community’s diverse traditions,” said Leigha Porter, director and producer. “We’re proud to make ‘The Creole Nutcracker’ a cherished part of Acadiana’s holiday arts scene.”
