Modern Jazz Movement Concert at the Lafayette Regional Airport
LAFAYETTE, La. – Modern Jazz Movement, a Louisiana Jazz collaborative, will provide an exclusive concert at the Lafayette Regional Airport.
The performance will take place on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Lafayette Regional Airport terminal rotunda. Organizers share that attendees can purchase bites and drinks from the terminal restaurant and bar, Acadiana Kitchen and Bar, while enjoying the music and views of the airfield.
The Lafayette Regional Airport offers free event passes for the concert with a limit of 50 applicants. Apply by Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 4:30 p.m. using the online form.
On the day of the concert, you can bring your parking ticket to the Administrative Office for validation.
What is the Modern Jazz Movement?
The Modern Jazz Movement was founded by Dion Pierre (Bass), Frank Kincel (Drums) and Denny Skerrett (Saxophones) in the 90’s. According to its website, the collaborative jazz trio has performed at festivals worldwide and locally, including Festival International de Louisiane and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.
Beyond major festivals, you might have heard the sounds of the Modern Jazz Movement from music nights at the Lion’s Tavern, Rodrigues, Blue Dog Café, Café 101, Café Cottage, Metropolis, Bisbano’s Cellar Bar, Grant St. Dance Hall, The Rinky Dink, Sidebar, Cornwell’s Café, Café des Amis, M’s Café and more.
The group’s latest album, ‘On Garfield,’ was released in 2025. Modern Jazz Movement is available for both public and private events.

Since its opening in 1930, the airport has had a rich history beyond the local scene. During World War II, the airport was commandeered by the U.S. Army Air Forces and returned to civil control in 1945. In 2001, Air Force One transported President George W. Bush, landing at the airport.
