Duson Water Cocktail Recipe from Naq’s N Duson

A lively new gathering spot in Duson celebrates Cajun hospitality with cocktails that capture the spirit of Acadiana

Cajun rhythms, expertly crafted cocktails and genuine hospitality converge at Naq’s N Duson, one of Acadiana’s most enticing new no-frills destinations.

Since opening in 2025, Naq’s has quickly earned acclaim for its Cajun and zydeco weekend brunch, generous plate lunches, fresh seafood, whopping specialty burgers and signature drinks with a side of toe-tapping music.

“I’ve been in politics and sales for 20 years, and I wanted to have my own spot with live music,” says proprietor Kevin Naquin. He is the legendary frontman and accordion player for Kevin Naquin & the Ossun Playboys, recipient of over 14 Le Cajun Awards, including multiple Best Album, Best Band and Best Accordionist honors.

“I was in Destin two summers ago for my daughter’s softball tournament,” Naquin says. “I was at the pool bar sipping a rum drink. Looking out at the ocean, I was trying to come up with ideas about how to put Duson on the map. It was just a dream at first. That’s what inspired the Duson Water, our most popular cocktail.

In 2025, The Acadiana Advocate announced that Naq’s N Duson was voted Best New Restaurant of the year.

“It’s amazing how many people are traveling outside the area to come here,” he adds. “I’m playing this Thursday night. Y’all come!”

Fill a 12-ounce glass with ice. Add 0.75 oz. Blue Chair Bay Coconut Rum, 0.75 oz. Blue Chair Bay White Rum, slowly pour 0.75 oz. pineapple juice and 0.75 oz. Blue Curaçao to create the signature layered appearance. Top off with 0.50 oz. Monster Zero Sugar Energy drink. Do not stir immediately. Allow ingredients to stack and showcase the drink’s vibrant presentation. Garnish with 1 maraschino cherry and 1 slice fresh orange.
