Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana Launches The Big Draft
LAFAYETTE, La (press release) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, a youth mentoring organization, will launch the Big Draft, an annual volunteer recruitment campaign designed to inspire more adults—particularly men and men of color—to step up as Bigs (mentors).
The Big Draft, in collaboration with the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative, will take place Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux in Lafayette. The Big Draft campaign elevates the urgent need for more volunteers so that every young person waiting for a mentor can be matched with someone who believes in them.
Just as the NFL drafts its next class of players, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana is drafting its next class of Bigs. This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana shares its ambitious goal: to secure 60 Bigs in 60 Days.
By generating awareness and mobilizing the community, organizers share that they aim to bring in the volunteers needed to support the youth on our waiting list, especially boys who have been waiting the longest.
The Big Draft Kick-Off Event Details
