ACADIANA, La – Christmas Eve is here. It’s time for food and family gatherings. But, if you’re still looking to celebrate the season with Acadiana Christmas events you may have missed earlier, see the full list around the region below.

Iberville Parish

1. Merry Way: A Hometown Christmas Experience

An outdoor exhibit of twenty Christmas trees at Plaquemine City Hall.

Price: Free

Lafayette Parish

1. Christmas at the Lafayette Museum

Historic Homes & Gardens is decorated for Christmas with period decorations until Dec. 31.

Price: $5 Adults. $3 Seniors, Military and Students.

When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. until Dec. 31. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

2. Old Time Winter Traditions

Witness the arts and crafts of life back in the day in Acadiana, from candle making and natural decoration to soap making and writing letters to Papa Noel! Enjoy classic Cajun and Creole cuisine in La Cuisine de Maman, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and shop from local artists and artisans in the gift shop, La Boutique at Vermilionville.

Price: Free admission.

When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., until Dec. 29.

3. Victorian Christmas at Rip Van Winkle Gardens

Tours of the Joseph Jefferson Home are decorated for the holiday season. Enjoy delicious treats from Café Jefferson 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Price: $8, ages 6 -17. $14, 18+. $12, 65+.

When: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., until Jan. 6.

Lafourche Parish

1. Christmas in the Park

Take the family for a ride through Peltier Park to enjoy a magical light display and Christmas trees decorated by local schools, churches and organizations.

Lake Charles

1. Downtown Lake Charles Christmas Glow Show

2. Miniature Snow Village Collection

Miniature Snow Village Collection that spans one entire room. Experience a 700-piece collection featuring a skating rink, quaint town squares, festive neighborhoods and ski run on loan from the McNeese Foundation.

3. Candy Cane Girls Take Over Frosty Factory

The Candy Cane Girls, cocktails, photo-ops, sing-a-longs and Christmas parties. Don’t miss the giant igloo on select nights.

4. Holiday Helping Hands

Holiday Helping Hands returns this year with an even greater mission: to ensure that every member of the community has a warm, festive holiday meal and the comfort of knowing they are not alone.

The River Parishes

1. Christmas Eve Bonfires

Parking is available in lots along LA 641. There will be a 3 to 4-block walk to the levee.

Price: Free

When: Dec. 24, 7 p.m.

Where: Along River Road through Gramercy & Lutcher.

2. Cajun Bonfire Celebration at Felicity Plantation

Felicity Plantation continues the spirit of the Christmas Eve bonfires on December 27. Guests will enjoy:

  • A festive, fire-lit gathering beneath centuries-old oak trees
  • Delicious gumbo and hors d’oeuvres
  • Beer and wine service included

Price: Single ticket, $70 per person. Reserved table, $525 for a table of 8.

Each ticket includes access to the gumbo and hors d’oeuvre buffet, open beer and wine bar and the levee-style holiday bonfire. Reserved tables are available only for guests who purchase the full table. All other seating is first-come, first-served.

When: Dec. 27, 6 – 10 p.m.
