ABBEVILLE, La (press release) – The City of Abbeville announced that its annual Abbeville Christmas Stroll is rescheduled to Thursday, Dec. 11, due to the weather.

As part of the reschedule, the Tree Lighting Ceremony originally planned for Dec. 4 is canceled. Though there will be no tree lighting, the tree will still be lit throughout the holiday season.

Additionally, next week will now feature two festive celebrations in Abbeville:

Thursday, Dec. 11 – Abbeville Christmas Stroll
Enjoy the beautifully decorated downtown, holiday treats and 30 participating stops at the annual Christmas stroll, which organizers share has been a local favorite for more than 25 years.

Saturday, Dec. 13 – Abbeville Cajun Christmas Celebration
The festivities of the Abbeville Christmas Stroll continue into the weekend with the Cajun Christmas Celebration, featuring family-friendly activities, festive entertainment and plenty of holiday spirit with a local twist.

The Abbeville community has two wonderful opportunities to gather, shop local and enjoy the season.
Downtown Abbeville will be beautifully illuminated, businesses are ready to welcome visitors and both events
promise memorable experiences for families and friends.

Although adjusting from the long-standing tradition of hosting the stroll on the first Thursday of December is uncommon, organizers share that Abbeville remains committed to ensuring the safest and most enjoyable experience for all participants, businesses and visitors.
