“Where Lies the Truth,” Troy Broussard’s Book Set in Acadiana
Author and Attorney Troy Allen Broussard Returns Home to Eunice for Q&A Event
EUNICE, La. – “Where Lies the Truth,” a novel by Eunice native and Lafayette lawyer Troy Allen Broussard, is set in Acadiana, “where Cajun, Creole and Anglo-Saxon cultures both merge and collide.”
Broussard has practiced law for 26 years at the Lafayette office of Allen & Gooch. However, in November 2025, he ventured beyond the legal world with the publishing of his book, “Where Lies the Truth.”
According to organizers, “Where Lies the Truth” is a poignant and haunting story set in 1976, when an ordinary hunting excursion in a swampy wooded area thrusts 12-year-old Ezra Brasseaux into a world of racial and murderous treachery that resurfaces during his adulthood and refuses to loosen its grip.

“Where Lies the Truth” Reviews
With 4.3 out of 5 stars on Amazon, reviewers have overwhelmingly positive feedback on the novel with many touching on the book’s ability to place the reader in the time and setting and its accurate portrayal.
One reviewer writes:
“I grew up in St. Landry parish, with a large portion of my family from Evangeline parish, (the Louisiana setting for this book) and can only say “Wow!!”….this page turner involves a gripping tale of racial tensions bubbling over into a brutal torture/murder turned cold case set in an incredibly authentic depiction of post integration south Louisiana in the 1970s through early 2000s.
The unfolding story is a well-paced ride through the lives of young boys coming of age in the beautiful languid country side of Cajun Louisiana. The character development is impeccable, the dialogue crackles with authenticity and the south Louisiana setting is captivatingly described.
I highly recommend this book and hope to see more in the future from this first time author.”
And another:
“The way this story is told is very real, very thought provoking. Powerful. It pulls the reader into a slight understanding of the dynamics of our prejudices, without judgment, but instead making us think of how our thoughts are formed and what we can do to better them for humanity. Highly recommend!”
