LAFAYETTE, La – We’re exactly one week away from Mardi Gras Day. Now is the time to celebrate if you haven’t been. And if you have been, now is the time to finish strong for Fat Tuesday on Feb. 17 by partaking in one (or a few) of the Lafayette Parish Mardi Gras Week events.

Lafayette offers a range of events, from parades and festivals for children and adults to nights of live music and Mardi Gras shows. Enjoy the list guide of all events with details and links from the Lafayette Travel calendar below.

Lafayette Parish Mardi Gras Week Events

Feb. 10, Mardi Gras Exhibit at the Lafayette Museum

When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m, recurring weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, until Feb. 28

Where: The Lafayette Museum, Historic Home and Gardens, 1122 Lafayette St., Lafayette, La

The Lafayette Museum Association exhibits a display of Mardi Gras costumes of past royalty at the Lafayette Museum – Historic Home and Gardens. Enjoy the pageantry of the balls, the family fun of the parades and a tour of costumes on display at the Lafayette Museum.

Feb. 12, Pine Leaf Boys: Mardi Gras Show

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Hideaway on Lee, 407 Lee Ave, Lafayette, La

Live music at the Hideaway.

Feb. 13-17, Eunice Mardi Gras Celebration

When: Five-day event, Feb. 13-17

Where: Throughout Eunice

Men and women on horseback wear hand-crafted wire masks, tall hats called capuchons and colorful costumes. The main event is the Courir de Mardi Gras & Chicken Run. Here, revelers chase a chicken or guineafowl and participate in medieval begging practices.

The courir takes place on Mardi Gras day and is only one part of the celebration. Starting the Friday before, you can enjoy:

  • Music concerts
  • Activities for children and teenagers at the Lil’ Mardi Gras held on Sunday
  • Old-time boucherie (hog butchering) on Sunday

Feb. 14, Pawdi Gras Walking Parade & Festival

When: 12 p.m.

Where: Adopted Dog Brewing, 329 Dulles Dr., Lafayette, La

Decorate your wagons, strollers, leashes and more. Dress up your pups.

Feb. 15, 64th Annual Courir de Mardi Gras

When: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Adult Courir Sign-Up: 7 a.m.
  • Courir Begins: 8 a.m.
  • Parade: 1 p.m.

Registration: $50 Adult Runner (cash only), $1,000 for floats 1-10 (cash or check) and $800 for all other floats (cash or check)

Feb. 15, Grand Marais Mardi Gras Parade

When: 1 – 5 p.m.

Where: Iberia Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau, Grand Marais Park, 7304 Hwy. 90 E., Jeanerette, La

Family-oriented Mardi Gras parade with floats, throws, bands, dance groups, Mardi Gras royalty, Grand Marshal, elaborate and colorful costumes and beads and throws. Lineup begins at 10 a.m. and roads close at 12 p.m.

Feb. 16, Lundi Gras Boucherie

When: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: Lakeview Park & Beach, 1717 Veterans Memorial Hwy., Eunice, La

A community celebration that begins early in the morning with the butchering of the hog. The meat is then prepared for dishes such as boudin, boudin rouge, cracklins, backbone stew and ponce. Nothing goes to waste. Even the ears of the hog are used to make hogshead cheese, something similar to a terrine.

This event is hosted by Lakeview Park & Beach and takes place on the grounds. All day and night, live Cajun and zydeco music bands play in the barn, turned dancehall. There is not an admission fee for this event, but you will need to purchase tickets from the bar in order to sample dishes. Beer and other adult beverages are available at the bar inside the barn.

Feb. 16, Queen Evangeline’s Parade

Feb. 16, Soileau Mardi Gras

When: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Where: Double Z Cowboy Corral, 422 Hwy. 104, Oberlin, La

Price: $20. Free for kids

This family-friendly tradition blends the excitement of a Courir de Mardi Gras with a day full of music, food and community spirit. Experience the lively chicken run, where participants parade through Soileau, sharing beads and candy with neighbors along the way. After the ride, enjoy an all-you-can-eat gumbo and dance to the sounds of live Zydeco and Cajun French music.
