Board-certified general and bariatric surgeon Dr. Uyen Chu is one of the leading female surgeons for Our Lady of Lourdes Health, performing more than 500 cases a year for patients diagnosed with bariatric, gall bladder, hernia, and other health issues that require surgical intervention. Soon after moving to Acadiana in 2001, Dr. Chu became one of the first surgeons in the region trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery. In 2013, she was the first Louisiana surgeon to perform robotic weight loss surgery, going on to complete more than 700 general and bariatric robotic surgeries to date. Along the way, she built a reputation as a surgeon other surgeons turn to for guidance.
