Kiwanis Club of Opelousas Announces Annual Co-Ed Softball Tournament, Cook’n for Kiwanis Anything Over Rice Cookoff

OPELOUSAS, La (press release) – The Kiwanis Club of Opelousas announced the return of its 5th year Co-Ed Softball Tournament. Organizers share the event has expanded this year to include Cook’n for Kiwanis Anything Over Rice Cook-off, Live Musical Entertainment and, as usual, a family-friendly BINGO event. This community gathering will take place at South City Park located at 1524 S. Market St., Opelousas, LA 70570 on Saturday, Aug. 16.
The festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. with local businesses competing in a friendly Co-Ed Softball Tournament, providing a day of fun-filled entertainment for all ages. Spectators are encouraged to join in the excitement free of charge and cheer on their favorite teams, including American Bank & Trust Company, Bat Intentions, Dupre Carrier Godchaux, Hope for Opelousas, St. Landry Bank & Trust Company, and Washington State Bank.
In addition to the softball tournament, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities including the Cook’n for Kiwanis Cook-off, where bracelets for sampling delicious dishes will be available for purchase at $8 per person.
To register a team for the Cookoff, please visit opelousaskiwanis.org/fundraiser/co-ed-softball-tournament/ to print a registration form. Cost to participate is $50 per team in advance or $60 per team the day of. This can be mailed to P.O. Box 16, Opelousas, LA 70570 with your payment. Cash concessions will offer a selection of food and drinks on-site to satisfy appetites and quinch thirsts throughout the day. Live entertainment free of charge provided by JJ Caillier, DJ Alton, David Henry, and Holly Ortego.
The Kiwanis Club of Opelousas is a non-profit organization comprised of dedicated volunteers committed to improving the lives of children in our community. Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting charitable organizations dedicated to serving the youth in the Opelousas-St. Landry Parish area, making a positive impact on those in need.
