Junior League of Lafayette “Stuff’s the Sleigh” with Diapers

Stuff The Sleigh Diaper Awareness Approved Lb Mbw 82224

LAFAYETTE, La (press release) – One in two U.S. families struggles to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy. Junior League of Lafayette (JLL) is taking action to make a difference.

Starting September 1, 2024 we will be “Stuffing the Sleigh” by collecting diapers in support of National Diaper Need Awareness Week. From now through September 30, 2024, the League is asking the community to donate diapers. Use the Amazon link or drop them off at Junior League of Lafayette’s Headquarters at 504 Richland Ave. in Lafayette.

Junior League of Lafayette’s Diaper Bank opened in 2019. The JLL Diaper Bank works to meet the current need and address poverty with compassion. As a member of the National Diaper Bank Network, JLL Diaper Bank obtains diapers through direct wholesale purchases and community diaper donations, to close the diaper need gap in the community. Last year, the diaper bank distributed over 111,000 diapers to local agencies.

Research shows that the average cost for one child in diapers is about eighty dollars per month. Low-income families are impacted by the financial cost of diapers, as government assistance programs typically do not cover this cost. Partnering with several local community organizations, Junior League of Lafayette’s Diaper Bank program hopes to assist those families in need.

With the creation of the Diaper Bank, partnerships between Junior League of Lafayette and several local community organizations were built to distribute to those in need. Currently, Junior League of Lafayette is working with 12 partner agencies.
