Books Along the Teche Literary Festival: Children’s Word and Picture Workshops
NEW IBERIA, La (press release) – The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival would like to welcome all up-and-coming literary stars to participate in their Children’s Word and Picture Workshops at the Sliman Theatre and George Rodrigue Park on Saturday, April 10 with events lasting from 9-11:50 a.m.
Three different workshops will be offered ranging from musical programs to writing and illustrating activities.
Boogie on the Bayou – 9-9:45 a.m.
Be a Word Detective – 10-10:45 a.m.
Steps to Illustrating A Picture Book Workshop – 11-11:50 a.m.
These activities are free to attend and open to the public, but participants are asked to register in advance by emailing email@example.com a name, email address and the events they plan on attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Boogie on the Bayou:
Johnette Downing’s virtual program for toddlers to third graders will be held at 9 a.m. at the Sliman Theatre (129 E. Main St.).
Children will enjoy singing along with Downing and her guitar to her popular books made-into-songs like “Today is Monday” and “Who Got the Baby in the King Cake.”
Downing’s most recent release, Swamp Romp, won the 2019 Parents’ Choice Silver Award winner, National Parenting Product Award (NAPPA), 2019 Fids and Kamily Award, and School Library Journal’s Top 10 Music of 2019. For more information on the author, visit her website.
