Editor’s Note: Adventures in Eating

I have a friend who lives on the Westbank, and years ago, we started talking about all of the good restaurants over there. I decided I wanted to try them out. All of them. So we compiled a long list of every place we could think of, and we’ve systematically been working our way through the list.
Once a month, I meet him for lunch on the Westbank and while he’s already gone to many of these restaurants, for me, they have been largely first-time experiences. I’ve discovered some of my favorite places that I might never have found, and I love that. There are many Asian and Hispanic restaurants tucked away on lesser-known streets of the Westbank that offer some of the best food on either side of the river. After two years of lunches, we have yet to finish the list. That’s a good problem to have! I can’t recommend enough venturing outside of your bubble or usual list of places to go.
In this issue, Eric Cormier highlights Asian restaurants in the Acadiana region. Some you might know of, some you might not. He’s had the oh-so-tough job of taking a deep dive into some of the best restaurants around. Rather than including a host of restaurants, Cormier narrows his focus to a handful and explores what makes them unique and notes their best or most unique dishes.
I hope your fall is filled with lots of delicious culinary adventures.
Cheers!
