LAFAYETTE, La (press release) — The Lafayette Ballet Theatre will celebrate the 25th anniversary of “The Nutcracker” with its performances on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14. Founded in 1982, the Lafayette Ballet Theatre is Acadiana’s only professional classical ballet company.
To celebrate its anniversary year, the Lafayette Ballet Theatre partnered with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, which will perform live alongside the dancers, adding a new music element to the performance.
Organizers say “The Nutcracker” is a cherished holiday tradition in Acadiana that has given hundreds of local children the rare opportunity to perform alongside professional dancers in a full-length ballet.
“For 25 years, ‘The Nutcracker’ has been more than a performance — it’s a reflection of our community’s heart,” said the Lafayette Ballet Theatre Co-Artistic Director Shannon Heath. “Every dancer, every volunteer, every stitch in a tutu tells the story of Acadiana’s love for the arts.”
