Tuesday with Friends: A Summer Series of Music, Stories & Community

LAKE CHARLES, La (press release) – The City of Lake Charles presents “Tuesdays with Friends” a weekly event designed to bring the community together through live music, storytelling, and conversation. It is an intimate, laid back series where music, storytelling, and community come together in a cozy setting that feels like spending the evening with old friends.
The series will run every Tuesday evening through July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Historic City Hall, located at 1001 Ryan St.
Each week will highlight local legends in music, alongside compelling conversations that reflect the vibrant culture of our region. This evening offers a space for connection and shared appreciation of the songs, stories, and traditions that still resonate across our community.
Organizers say Tuesdays with Friends is more than just a weekly gathering—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the musical soul of Southwest Louisiana. Set in the 2nd floor gallery space of the Historic City Hall, this laid-back series offers an intimate stage where local legends and cultural torchbearers share not just their music, but the stories that shaped it. Each evening dives into deep rhythms and narratives that define our region, from swamp pop and zydeco to Cajun heritage and Creole traditions. With each performance, attendees are treated to not only the sounds of talented local artist, but the very tales, experiences and cultural reflections that helped to produce these harmonies. Pull up a chair, bring your favorite drink and settle in for an unforgettable summer filled with the vibrant sounds of local music, heartfelt storytelling, and kind of conversations that turn neighbors into friends
The Series will showcase a dynamic lineup of performers and storytellers. The rest of the series includes: Brandon Ledet will host a creole/zydeco jam session on July 1, inviting guests to play or listen. July 9 will celebrate the legacy of Phil Philips, featuring rare recordings, stories, and memories shared by his daughters. Finally, the series will wrap up on July 16 with a spirited Cajun Jam hosted by Chris Miller and Clint Ward, just in time for CMFA Cajun Fest on July 19.
Historic City Hall is located at 1001 Ryan Street with hours Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Historic City Hall is also home to Black Heritage Gallery and Gallery by the Lake on the second floor. The Charlestown Farmers Market is open on Bilbo Street behind the center every Saturday from 8 a.m. till noon. Meet Me @ The Market is open the first Saturday of every month on the front plaza of Historic City Hall.
