Mayor’s 3-2-6 Art Awards Recipients Announced

LAKE CHARLES, La (press release) – The City of Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish School Board extended a congratulations to the recipients of the 2025 Mayor’s 3-2-6 Art Awards.
The Mayor’s 3-2-6 Art Awards celebrates the artistic talent within the community, featuring the outstanding work of three middle school students, two elementary school students, and six high school students from Calcasieu Parish. Mayor Nic Hunter presented the awards to each recipient at Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The name of these awards is no coincidence—3-2-6 Pujo Street is the address of Lake Charles City Hall. These incredible works of art will be proudly displayed in the lobby of Mayor Hunter’s office for the entire year.
“The Mayor’s 3-2-6 Art Awards shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible young artists of Calcasieu Parish,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “Their talent, creativity, and vision are a testament to the importance of arts education in shaping the future of our community. I am honored to showcase their work in City Hall, where every visitor can experience the artistic spirit of Lake Charles firsthand.”
The recipients are as follows: Alissa Watts, an 8th-grade student at R.D. Molo Middle School, Alissa’s teacher is Albert Allen; Korra Brown, an 8th-grade student at LeBlanc Middle School in Sulphur, her teacher is Misti Perkins; Avery Jones, an 8th-grade student at F.K. White Middle School, her teacher is Alex Warnken; Allison Leyva, a 5th-grade student at M. J. Kaufman Elementary, her teacher is Leigh Humphries; Emma Mouhot, 5th-grade student at A. A. Nelson Elementary, her teacher is Shelia Pizzolatto; Sydney Staggs, a freshman at Sulphur High School, her teacher is Ethan Crook; Blaze Band, a 12th-grade student at Bell City High School, his teacher is Anna Stanley; James Courville, a 10th-grade student at Barbe High School, his teacher is Laura Moreau; Kinleigh Mims, a senior student at Iowa High School, her teacher is Mary Donaldson; Kymberlyn Jefferson, an 12th-grade student at Sulphur High School, her teacher is Adrienne Romero; Aaron Coker, a senior at Sam Houston High School, his teacher is Julie Groth.
Historic City Hall is located at 1001 Ryan St. with hours Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is always free. Historic City Hall is also home to Black Heritage Gallery and Gallery by the Lake on the second floor. The Charlestown Farmers Market is open on Bilbo Street behind the center every Saturday from 8 a.m. till noon.
