Junior League of Lafayette Hosts Little Black Dress Initiative

LAFAYETTE, La (press release) – Junior League of Lafayette announced the upcoming Little Black Dress Initiative, taking place from Dec. 8-14. This unique event aims to raise awareness about the critical issues faced by women and children in our community while showcasing the League’s impactful initiatives.
During the Little Black Dress Initiative, Members of Junior League will don black dresses or outfits as a visual statement to spark conversations about community development. Each day, participants will share stories and insights related to the League’s various projects, highlighting how these initiatives make a positive difference in Lafayette.
The Little Black Dress Initiative encourages community engagement and participation. Through social media campaigns, this initiative not only seeks to inform but also inspires action, encouraging individuals to support local programs and initiatives that uplift those in need, such as Junior League of Lafayette’s community programs like Diaper Bank, EmpowHER., and Happy Wheels.
Along with its social media campaign, the Little Black Dress Initiative has partnered with several local businesses that will be hosting giveback events for Junior League of Lafayette:
Maven Womenswear Boutique Shopping Event:
10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8
20% of all purchases during this time frame will be donated to Little Black Dress Initiative
SoLou Brunch:
Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8
30% of sales from specialty drink “Little Blackberry Lemon Drop” will be donated to Little Black Dress Initiative
Dave & Buster’s Family Day:
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14
20% of any purchase will be donated to Little Black Dress Initiative by mentioning Junior League of Lafayette to your server (cannot be completed at kiosks)
“The Little Black Dress Initiative is more than just wearing a dress; it represents solidarity and a commitment to making a difference in our community,” said Jackie Marks-Rollins, LBDI Chair at Junior League of Lafayette. “We invite everyone to join us in this movement, to learn more about our programs, and to explore how they can get involved.”
Junior League of Lafayette is dedicated to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. This initiative is just one of the many ways the League demonstrates its commitment to fostering positive change.
